From New York City Via Ferry
SeaStreak Ferry service offers daily runs from NYC direct to the pier at Sandy Hook (and return). www.seastreak.com
Yellow school buses meet the ferries and transport you to either North Beach/Gunnison Beach (the clothing optional beach), or to Beach Lot E in the southern section of the park. Beach Lot E is adjacent to Sea Gulls' Nest (we are a 5 minute walk from the bus drop off).
There are buses that circle the park every hour that can take you back to the ferry, or to one of the other beaches in the park.
Sea Streak Ferry is the only ferry service you can use, and in addition to the runs to Sandy Hook, the ferries also stop at Highlands, NJ. Highlands is a 5 minute taxi ride to Sandy Hook. (There are no buses or public transportation from Highlands to Sandy Hook, ONLY from the pier at Sandy Hook can you take the free bus to the beaches.)
In case you get off at Highlands with no transportation to Sandy Hook, the phone number for a taxi service is: 732-222-6688.
